A photo opportunity turned stressful search
Long roadside grass, a treasured gift and the worry of it being gone forever.

John lost his ring in long grass during a roadside photography job. He spent an hour searching to no avail and feared his precious gift from his son to be lost forever.
After meeting on site and having John explain his movements, it became apparent that the ring would likely be within arms length of his path. The challenge was long grass and a lot of roadside litter and leftover fencing parts.
I searched the “cleaner” area adjacent to the fence first and re-balanced my detector to the local soil after experiencing a lot of interference. After a thorough search of the fence line and a couple of false alarms I moved to his path out to where he parked.
On what would be my last half meter of grass as I approached the road edge, I got a loud, solid alert and a couple of prods with my pinpointer had his ring on the surface of the long grass - much to John’s absolute delight. It was incredibly rewarding to see just how relieved and excited he was to have his treasured gift safely back on his finger.
